What does an innovation partner do?
An innovation partner is an outside team that helps a company come up with, test and develop new ideas. Some partners run workshops. Some build software. Some advise on strategy.
Idea Partnership focuses on one outcome: new inventions your business can own. We start from your goals, roadmap and market, develop new product, service and process concepts with your team, check them for commercial use and prior art, and prepare the technical record that independent patent counsel works from.

When does a company need one?
Markets move faster than they used to, and copying a feature takes weeks, not years. A company with a strong roadmap but no protected position can find its best work matched quickly.
Teams usually bring in a partner when engineering is fully booked on delivery, when leadership wants new revenue lines, or before a funding round, launch or acquisition where owned inventions matter.

How we work as your innovation partner
You do not need to arrive with an invention. Our founder, James Borzilleri, built our proprietary invention process from lessons learned filing his own patents. Work can begin from your website, demos, manuals and business goals, with no source code required.
Every concept is screened for potential commercial use and prior art before it goes further. Counsel then decides what is patentable and who the inventors are, based on actual contribution.
04
What you get at the end
A set of documented invention concepts, prior art notes, drawings and a technical record ready for your patent counsel. Fees are agreed upfront based on scope and value, not hours.
Common questions
Is an innovation partner the same as an innovation consultant?
They overlap. Consultants often advise on strategy. As an innovation partner we work alongside your team to develop specific new inventions and the records counsel needs.
Do you only work with technology companies?
No. We work with growing companies across industries. Our technical focus areas are software, hardware and electronics, semiconductors, mechanical and industrial technology, and medical devices.
Will every concept become a patent?
No. Patent counsel decides what to file, and the patent office decides what is granted. Some concepts may suit trade secret protection or simply inform the roadmap.
Are you a law firm?
No. We develop and document inventions. Independent licensed patent counsel handles legal advice, drafting and filing.
