Provisional Applications Available for Partnership
An inventor-led portfolio spanning digital technologies, semiconductor innovation, personal development, and physical systems. Beyond our client work, we originate our own inventions and hold provisional patent applications that may be available for co-development or commercialization partnership with the right company.
A provisional patent application is an initial filing that is not examined and is not an issued patent. Availability changes as applications are advanced, lapsed, or partnered. Idea Partnership is an innovation studio, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice.
A Portfolio Across Disciplines
We name the industries, not the inventions, on purpose. Publicly describing pending applications in detail could affect their future patentability, so specifics are shared privately after a mutual nondisclosure agreement is in place.
Software
Provisional patent applications covering software-related innovations our team has originated internally. Specific subject matter is shared privately, after a mutual nondisclosure agreement is in place.
Fintech
Provisional patent applications in financial technology areas. We explore partnership with companies whose products, roadmaps, or platforms may align with a given application.
Mechanical
Provisional patent applications in mechanical and hardware-related areas. Partnerships may involve co-development, further development, or commercialization arrangements, depending on fit.
Semiconductors
Our in-house portfolio also includes provisional patent applications in the semiconductor field. Application details and potential partnership fit are discussed privately under a mutual nondisclosure agreement.
Self-Improvement
Provisional patent applications in the self-improvement field extend the portfolio beyond enterprise technology. We keep the underlying concepts private and explore potential partnerships case by case.
Distributed Ledger Technologies
Provisional patent applications in distributed ledger technologies (DLT). Any review of a specific application takes place privately, after a conflicts check and mutual nondisclosure agreement.
Storage & Delivery Systems
Provisional patent applications in storage and delivery systems add another field to our in-house portfolio. Potential co-development or commercialization arrangements depend on alignment and mutually agreed terms.
How a Partnership Comes Together
A deliberate process, designed to protect both sides.
Initial Conversation
Tell us about your business, products, and roadmap on a call. We keep the discussion general at this stage; nothing confidential is exchanged through the website.
Conflicts Check and NDA
Before any details are shared, we run a conflicts of interest check and, when both sides want to proceed, put a mutual nondisclosure agreement in place.
Review the Application
Under the NDA, we walk you through the relevant provisional patent application, what it covers, and where it sits in its filing timeline.
Written Agreement
If there is a fit, terms are negotiated case by case and documented in a written agreement before any work or transfer of rights begins.
What a Provisional Application Is, and Is Not
- It establishes an early filing date for the invention it describes.
- It remains pending for 12 months. Continuing to pursue the invention after that requires further filings, which cost money and are decided case by case.
- It is not examined by the patent office, is not an issued patent, and may never become one. We make no promise of a patent grant, of validity, or of any commercial outcome.
Why We Keep Details Private
Provisional applications relate to innovations we have originated internally. Publicly describing them in detail could affect their future patentability, so this page names industries only. If a conversation suggests a possible fit, we run a conflicts of interest check and share specifics under a mutual nondisclosure agreement, outside the website. Please do not send confidential information through any website form; we treat form submissions as non-confidential.
Not Legal Advice, Not an Offer
Idea Partnership is an innovation studio, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice. Anything on this page is informational and does not constitute an offer to sell or transfer rights in any application. Any partnership is subject to qualification, a conflicts check, mutually negotiated terms, and a written agreement. All legal questions, including patentability and transfer of rights, should be addressed by qualified patent counsel.

Wondering If One of Our Applications Fits Your Roadmap?
Start with a general conversation about your business. If there may be a fit, we will take the next steps privately, under the right protections.
Your challenge
Your market is moving fast. A moat and new revenue are what last.
Competitors are shipping faster than ever, and AI tools have made features cheaper to copy. Growth increasingly depends on two things: a moat competitors cannot simply rebuild, and new products and services that open revenue. Both take invention work most teams have no spare capacity for.
What you face
Rivals match what you ship faster than your roadmap moves, new revenue needs new offerings, and others may file on similar ideas before you do.
How it feels
Your team is fully booked on the current roadmap. You know the next product line and the defensible IP are both missing, but nobody has the hours to create them.
What you want
A real moat and a pipeline of new offerings: filed applications, documented know-how and new product and service concepts that reflect your capabilities and hold value as your market changes.
Your guide
We know how fast your market is moving.
Idea Partnership is led by James Borzilleri, a named inventor on an issued U.S. patent and on multiple pending U.S. patent applications. He has watched good technology lose its edge because nobody had time to protect it or build what came next. That is why your engineers do not need to bring finished ideas or extra hours: we work alongside them to create and document new inventions, then hand counsel a complete technical record, so your company owns what it builds while your team stays on the roadmap.
The plan
How a portfolio partnership works.
Three steps from your business goals to a filed application your company owns.
- 01
Share your goals
Tell us where your business is headed. Your team spends a few working sessions with us, not weeks away from the roadmap.
- 02
Get new inventions, ready for counsel
You receive candidate inventions with commercial-use evaluation, prior art research, drawings and disclosures, ready for counsel to review.
- 03
Own a filed application
Independent licensed patent counsel assesses patentability, finalizes and files, so your company holds a filed provisional patent application. Legal judgments stay with counsel.
Without a plan
- Competitors rebuild your features and compete on price
- Growth stalls without new revenue-producing offerings
- Others may file on similar ideas first
- Inventions may be disclosed publicly before anyone evaluates them
- Diligence reviewers may find an undocumented technology story
- Counsel receives incomplete material and timelines slip
With a plan in place
- Your company owns rights that a competitor cannot simply rebuild
- New product and service concepts give growth somewhere to go
- Your team's best ideas are captured before they ship
- You choose what to file with research in hand
- Your counsel receives complete packages and timelines hold
- You walk into diligence with a documented technology story
Outcomes depend on each invention, prior art and counsel's judgment. Idea Partnership is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
